After much thinking and pondering and fear of getting our asses kicked, Chris and I decided to change our MX name to DL... namely "DesignersLife". Chris already has ideas in the works for our central site, designerslife.net. So stay tuned, but if you have my journal linked, change the link to HTTP://AVALONSTAR.NET/DL. Thank you for your patronage.

Well, it's been busy lately folks. I've been doing a lot of new designs, taking care of relatives, and helping my dad with carpentry work. But I am here once again! If you want to catch up on my new work click here. I will be posting those works on this site soon, after the recode.

In other news, I did have enough time to make another little layout. I have never had a blog of my own, so Halo'Vision, Avalonstar, and Femstyle, decided to create the MXCrew. AvalonstarMX can be seen here. This is the uncut mind ramblings of the person you know and have grown to love. More is to come, but be happy with what you see right now.

That's it for now, expect a modified look in a couple of days!

A good friend of mine, and one of avalonstar's partner sites just released a beautifully designed porfolio, all smashed on one page. Check out my bud Chris at Halo'Vision.

In other news, I released the 6th piece of the Reverence series. I had never done a self portrait piece before, so I decided this would be a good time to make one. Check out Individuality.

20020715 -- 17:35
Still hard at work on the minor corrections and coding issues. Also released a new piece for the Reverence series, Silence.

If you would like to contribute your thoughts or ideas to any of the open sections (ie. culture & debates), please email me.

Am I hallucinating or what? Wow, big shot out to Andrew at Design Is Kinky for linking me. Heh, he said my site was "stylish."

Well, while I am still awake, let me say a few things:

First off today is Meghan's 21st birthday, and it happens to be our 6 month anniversary. So a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY & HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to my sweetie. I wish I could be there to spend it with you.

Up next, I have a few plans for this site, you see this news IFrame here? It's always updated strictly by HTML, it's getting to me. Well, I want to expand my knowledge in a few technologies, so I will be redoing the coding of this site, don't worry it won't hurt one bit. I will be getting rid of the headline graphics and replacing them with gradient backgrounds and regular text, it's just easier that way. But the overall look and feel WILL NOT change.

If you have any requests, please email me as soon as possible! Peace out everybody!

Another Philippine photo turned into a Reverence image... again. It's neverending, isn't it? I call this one "Message" the original picture being one of my father looking over Lake Danao in the provience of Leyte, Philippines (same place as the picture from Tranquility). Check out that image here.

20020712 -- 23:41
Another Philippine photo turned into a Reverence image. This new one is called "Tranquility", based off a shot of a hooded pump boat. See that image here.

Good morning to you all and happy Friday! One week up, and I'm happy to say that this layout will stay up for a while.

Anyway, I finished another piece of my new "Reverence" series. It's called "Fauna," based on a shot of a beautiful flower I took in the Philippines (it is one of the photos in the exhibition). See it here.

20020711 -- 23:54
Finished uploading the 65 pictures of my Philippine Photo Exhibition. Take a look at it in the "emissions" section. I know it's only a link to a folder, but until I find a good way to display these on a regular page, it'll have to stay that way.

20020711 -- 22:31
I have a nice collection of All-American Pepsi cans sitting here on my desk. Can you have them? Nope, because in the great state of California, I get paid to drink every single can. A whole great $.05 (five cents) each.

You got to love recycling.

20020711 -- 20:33
Welcome to e-mail links! Today's episode is "attack of the 'cjb' links." Anyway, got to give a shout out to two sites Darlock and Osaka (not the city damnit.) Check them out, they've been suck onto the button wall.

Anyway, I'll have the FAQ up soon! I promise!

20020711 -- 13:56
The culture section is finally open. Special thanks to Aaron from X09Designs.com for being the first designer on the page, and for taking the time to give his opinions. More designers answers are to follow!

Now to work on the FAQ section.

20020710 -- 18:57
While I'm thinking of more innovative ways to produce content on the following site, please revert your attention to the "education" section for the transcript of my second workshop, Inspiration 101, nicely packed with a Power Point presentation. Enjoy.

20020709 -- 18:50
Just wanted to say thanks to Team HalfProject for taking the time to link me.

I'm busy at work on the culture page, this one is hard to create, but I hope will be the most rewarding. I'm putting a lot of thought into this one. Expect to see views from a few different artists/designers as well, as to compliment my ideology for this section.

EDIT: Have to give a shout out to a fellow "Avalon", visit him at AvalonSector.

20020708 -- 01:09
Not a big update, but wanted to plug a site with some kick ass pictures... maybe, check out Parking Lot Pimps, by Derek and Trell. Man, there's this one picture of elevators... very cool stuff.

20020708 -- 01:09
Tired again, but there's lots to say... now where to start.

Well, I applied to be part of the PhilWeavers network (a network of Filipino designers) a few days ago, and I got my acceptance letter today! Woohoo! In other news, expect to see a great exhibition for a yet to be named artist in the coming days.

You will see that one more button on the navigation bar will now work, and that's the "education" button. Go check that out, I'm sure it's something different and hopefully something you'll enjoy! Remember to read the rules too!

With linkage, check the button wall to see a new and pretty sleek site, LeetStyle. Thanks for the link back my friend.

Done with this update, time to get some sleep. See you on the flip side!

20020707 -- 16:05
Back from a 6-hour day of helping my dad grouting tiles at one of his client's houses, and now I'm back. Jesus Christ, I have never seen hits this consistant ever. Thank you guys so much. In this version of the update, I have two more people to thank. :D

It's all about thanking people, because these guys deserve it. Now here we go. Shout out to one of my good friends from the old PerfectBurn forums, Steven from Openvoid, and Carsten of the Abyss. Thanks to you both, and don't worry, I'm working hard to help try and revive PB!

Now back to work! Whew, this is neverending, but it's sure as hell worth it.

20020707 -- 01:09
About to go to sleep, but here's another link (if you don't know him already). Chris from Halovision.org linked me, and here's one back! Hope the secret Eden Project and LaunchMag are going well. And don't worry, I'll be talking to you soon. Don't know about what, but just to get over that fear, you know?

Whew, what's on the agenda for the rest of the weekend. Well besides calling about my time at jury duty on Monday, I'm working on the "education" section, and as I said before, I'll be putting up a few of my past workshop notes up there for you to see.

The links have been great so far, and this 11th version is the most successful one yet, I'm very proud of that, and I have all of you to thank. I hope to expand this site to include more input and dedications to the visitors, but I can only do so much at a time.

NOW, I am going to go to bed. Take care everybody!

20020707 -- 00:03
Sayin' hey to a person out there who likes my tag line. Thanks to Aliotsy from thethousand.net for the touching review and plug!

Excerpt from his review: "He comes across as a guy sincerely trying to do his part to make the online design community a better place, not by being vocal, but by doing what he loves to do and recognizing others who do the same. More power to him."

20020706 -- 21:25
Added some random quotes of my own to the top of each page to add some meaning and some color to it. These quotes can be found in the upcoming "education" seciton, where I'll feature the transcripts from the two seminars I did in the past year on inspiration.

an EDIT: ALSO SOME NEW ROLLOVERS, made through the request of a few SL members.

20020706 -- 10:08
Wow, wake up this morning, check the stats, and I have two more people to thank! Gaile from Femstyle.net (for plugging my site, again; you spelled my name wrong hun, it's with a "y."), and Rishi from Rhythmictwelve.com. Check out their sites if you haven't seen the friendship section already.

Also, remember to email me if you have any questions or comments, I really want to hear what you guys have to say! If you have an idea, throw it in my face, and we'll see what I can do. Be back later guys! More work to do!

20020706 -- 00:11
First, a huge thanks to the people at SL for making my reopening a big success! Espically to Bob at P E R S P E C T I V E S, thanks for the link and review my friend.

Second, I got an email from another good friend who happens to be featured on the "friendship" page. Mikhail linked me on his new site once again, and gave me a great review as well. Thanks a lot man, glad to be back on the scene.

Doesn't seem like I'll stop adding content to this site, "culture" is in the works right now with the other close behind. There are a few minor changes on 2 of the pages, with a new button wall, and some random "individuality" stuff.

Let's hope opening day isn't the only good day I have this year.

20020704 -- 23:23
Well, not quite opening day, but hey it works.

Two sections are still under development, "culture" and "eduction", as I still have to ask some friends for some input on that section. So enjoy what is up right now. Check out the cool "billboard" style error pages too!

The first exhibition will be released soon, so you can admire that. Just give me some time, I have to babysit 6 kids.

20020704 -- 00:00
Opening day on the 4th of July? Well, that's rich.

First off, to those who frequent this site, my email address has changed to bryan@avalonstar.net. I've been working on a few client sites lately, so I'm getting as much done here as possible.

I hope to get a few more people in on this site, showing off their work in "perspectives" and such. But we'll see what happens. It's good to be back, and I hope to keep this layout for a while.

20020703 -- 17:06
Finally closed down my two month long exhibition, the ColorEX series. The page showing all 10 images will be on display soon.

Starting today, I began work on my second exhibition, named "Reverence", it might resemble the previous series, however, as the images evolve, you will see why I gave it this name. Enjoy.

20020702 -- 23:50
Wow, I'm actually working on a personal layout. Haven't done this in a while. Can you believe it took me 5 months of thinking to get this? Haha, not really though. Most of it was trying to fit in with the rest of the crowd. But that was a futile attempt.

I decided to go back to my roots, and just design. If I deserve the fame and money from it, it will come in due time.
